Halfway through first book, great read
The Diamond Age is everything I like about reading a Neal Stephenson book. I was starting to have my doubts after trudging through the first of the Baroque cycles, but not with this book. His (Stephenson's) attention to detail is astonishing. He describes working with scanning electron microscopes, which I have some familiarity with, and he even goes into the low vacuum requirements, with three stages of pumps. He obviously has had some experience as well. This is one of those books that I savor each page, not wanting it to end.

Chubby Chunkster reading challenge!
I'm here because Wendy posted the Chunkster Reading Challenge . My goal for this year is a modest 4 books that are at least 450+ pages (the chubby chunkster level). I figure I have a few large tomes on my bookshelf that I haven't gotten to, and I was starting to feel like the Great Gatsby, so here I am. My first book is "The Diamond Age" by Neil Stephenson. This ought to be fun. I was thinking of going larger but I am just recently involved with a girl that I am completely infatuated with, so I imagine my time will be limited for a while. Wish me luck!
